So many of you have supported me through the first 2 years of course work for my Online Learning and Teaching Diploma (OLTD) program and this last year of my Master of Education. Here's one of the most visual results: A website!
Thank you all for your hours of conversation, dancing, questions, extra house cleaning and suppers (Jan!), and general cajoling to keep me going. It feels like a group effort :-) The website will continue to grow and evolve, with new sections being added over time. Like any growth, it's not a speedy process. First comes understanding and the ability to apply the understanding - next comes the sharing. I'm curious to hear what appeals to you here. I'd also love to hear how some of these themes are reflected in your own life and work. I look forward to your comments and continued conversation below! Image: Lilacs in my yard - A Hilker

I'm passionate about a diversity of perspectives informing and influencing education. Some of the greatest gifts to modern education come from the traditions of Indigenous peoples and cultures. Blending these pedagogical methods with current understanding can only lead to advantages for all.
This website has led me though deep considerations on the philosophical and structural foundations of Western academics. I'm ready for a change. I hope what you find here broadens the discussion, and more importantly, the practice. How do you bring Indigenous ways of teaching and learning to your classes? |
